About Me

Rebecca CrawfordHello! I’m Rebecca Crawford, a dedicated Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a passion for guiding individuals through journeys of healing and self-discovery. My work is deeply influenced by personal experiences with domestic violence and navigating the societal pressures surrounding body image, gender, and sexuality[1]. These encounters have shaped my integrative, client-centered approach, where I focus on fostering empowerment, independence, and authentic self-expression[2]. I believe in helping my clients connect to themselves in a way that reflects their true values and needs, free from the limitations imposed by societal expectations.

My Therapeutic Approach

I take a collaborative, integrative approach to therapy, combining evidence-based methods like cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy, multicultural-feminist theory, and gestalt techniques[3]. This means I view emotional and behavioural challenges not as personal flaws, but as coping mechanisms shaped by the negative societal pressures we all face[4]. Together, we explore how your internal world and external environment influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and work to align your life with your personal values.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly express yourself and feel supported in your journey. My goal is to empower you to exercise personal power, build healthy relationships, and develop skills that promote growth and independence. I am committed to helping you find solutions that meet your needs, while also challenging the factors that may be contributing to your struggles.

Beliefs Around Change

I firmly believe that meaningful change begins with self-awareness and self-acceptance. In my view, adverse emotional reactions are not signs of weakness but natural responses to the unrealistic and often harmful societal expectations we face. Through our work together, I will guide you in making responsible choices that promote growth, positive social connections, and self-determination.

I believe in empowering my clients to externalize marginalizing experiences, cultivate self-compassion, and find their voice in a world that often tries to silence it. True transformation happens when you not only address your internal needs but also challenge the external pressures that hinder your growth. I’m here to walk alongside you in this process, helping you cultivate lasting change, foster independence, and create a life that aligns with your authentic self.
